Principal Corner September

Dear Lion Families,

I hope you had a magnificent vacation and you are ready for a stimulating year at Mason. We are looking forward to the new learning that our LIONS will acquire during the 2011-12 school year!  WE NEED LIONS TO ATTEND SCHOOL DAILY because we have so much to teach them and we cannot educate an empty chair. We will be rewarding LIONS who have perfect attendance this year and we will be meeting with parents when LIONS have excessive absences and tardiness. The law says that unless your child is sick, you must send him/her to school on time.

At Mason, we are focused on State Standards and student productivity at proficient levels. We believe all children have the ability to learn, we encourage all children to work to their fullest potential; we expect LIONS to always do their personal best.  We also expect our LIONS to be good citizens. We will continue to build our school wide, Character Education Program. The trait we will be practicing/focusing on each month can be found on the school calendar. LIONS are expected to show good character at Mason at all times. Monthly Den Meetings, morning classroom meetings and my Monday message will address the Character Traits. This month, please help your child focus on Responsibility-help us encourage our LIONS to practice Responsibility both at school and at home. Like the African proverb says, “It takes a whole village to raise a child.”
