Principal Message 01-23
Dear Lion Scholars,
I hope that you had a wonderful weekend and you are ready to learn. By doing your personal best, you will become better and better each day.
Last week, a few students were not allowed to come to school because they hit other people. Please remember to practice self-control and keep your hands and feet to yourself.
As you practice forgiveness this month, remember this:
By asking for forgiveness, you are letting the person you hurt know that you are very sorry. You are showing respect for his/her feelings. People who ask for forgiveness are able to say that they want a second chance to make things right again.
Have a remarkable week and remember to wear your Mason shirt on Friday to show your spirit. We will have a Den meeting in the morning and Otter Pops after school.
We are ALL special! * Ms. H

SPSA
Mason 2011-12 SPSA (Single Plan for Student Achievement) is now available
Summary
The Mission for Mason Elementary is to ensure that every child will learn to his or her maximum potential in a safe, orderly, and nurturing environment. Our goals are to provide a high quality Stand ards based instructional program; to provide maximum opportunities for students to develop good character; and to provide opportunities for students, teachers, administrators, and parents to use collaboration to enhance student achievement. Our 2011-2012 S PSA supports this vision by providing a Standards-based environment which emphasizes high expectations for achievement and behavior for all students, utilizes data for instructional decision making, strategically supports learners, engages staff in ongoing professional learning, increases parent involvement, and improves daily attendance.

Principal Corner December
Dear Mason Families,
Thank you for taking part in our school activities. We appreciate your continued support! Parents and families are the first and most important teachers. Educational research has made it clear that parents who are actively involved in their children's learning at home and school help their children become more successful learners. We are really excited about the book fair which is scheduled for December 5th-9th. Join us as there will be many books for our children to view and purchase! Remember that books make wonderful gifts. Please don’t miss this important event!
We are very fortunate to have received a large grant from the Department of Defense. This grant provides funding for in class science visits from Reuben H. Fleet, math tutoring, and math/science nights. Your child’s teacher should be contacting you if your child is eligible for the after school math tutoring program. Furthermore, we hope that you will take advantage of Science Nights at Mason provided by Reuben H. Fleet. The schedule is as follows:

Happy December Lions!
November has come and gone but we have not forgotten what a great month it was. We had our very first "Family Bingo Night" that was a successful event! So many families and teachers came to join the fun. We want to thank the many volunteers who made that night what it was. Terry Moorer, you have done so much for our school and we want to thank you for working so hard with all our fundraisers. You deserve a huge ROOOOOAAAR! A big thank you to our Kindergarten teacher, Deanna Ritchie for pushing the Bingo to happen and for helping the committee get started. Karen D, thank you for being a part of the committee and helping with the organization. Jeanette, wow, the face painting and donations for a free photography session was outstanding! It was so much fun to see the kids faces decorated..The highschool kids that came to help with the event were so friendly, we thank you! The entire Bingo Committee, thank you for all your hard work..We could not have done this without you! Kimberley Poole, your hospitality of food and drinks were so appreciated. All the volunteers who assisted Kimberley thank you for your support.. We also want to thank all the wonderful companies that donated gift cards for Bingo Prizes.
